Lugarde offer three different types of high-quality wood: spruce, northern European larch wood and douglas wood.
Northern European larch and Douglas fir are two new types of wood available at Lugarde. These can be used for garden houses with the panel system, which is easy to assemble since the walls are pre-made as panels in our factory. Northern European larch is a strong, durable wood that grows in cold areas, which helps it grow slowly and become more durable. This wood can last 15 to 20 years outside without treatment, depending on your garden’s climate. While it naturally has a yellowish colour, it may turn gray over time. You can treat the wood with oil or stain to protect it, enhance the colour, or extend its life. We are happy to offer advice on the best treatment for your garden house.
Douglas wood can also be used for garden houses with the panel system. Like Northern European larch, it is very durable, but it comes from Western Europe. Douglas wood lasts untreated for 10 to 15 years, depending on the climate. It has a light yellow-red to yellow-brown colour that may turn gray over time, but you can protect it with oil or stain. Available for the garden house with a panel system, Douglas wood features a classic, rural look with the Swedish rabat gunwale profile.
Spruce is of high quality and comes from cold northern climates, where the trees grow slowly. This results in finer annual rings, giving the wood a strong and even structure. The wood is dried to about 14-16% moisture in drying chambers to prevent deformation. As the wood is cut to measure, all parts fit together perfectly, down to the millimetre. The angled connections produced are highly resistant to wind and water, suitable for garden houses, log cabins, and garages.
